This classic design was created in the Thames valley at the beginning of the 18th Century. Windsor chairs are a large family of designs ranging from simple stickbacks through to interlaced Gothics. They all share one construction method; All Windsor chairs have a solid wooden seat into which the arms, legs and back are socketted. Put simply Windsor construction means a piece of wood with holes in that all the parts are driven into.
