As with burr, the tiger phenomena occurs naturally and revealed in mature oak trees; From the tree’s hollow centre the surrounding heartwood is gradually changed as oxygen reaches it. The variegated fusion of brown colours is shot through the grain with bright, honey-coloured ‘medullary rays’.
